Hedley Rees – Disputing big pharma:
Why only politicians can do it, and how

Hedley Rees is managing director and lead consultant at PharmaFlow Limited, a UK based consultancy specializing in the strategic design and management of supply chains in the pharmaceutical and life science industries. He has authored several books outlining the failings of big pharma, including Supply Chain Management in the Drug Industry: Delivering Patient Value for Pharmaceuticals and Biologics. His presentation outlines how, in the early 1980s, a pivotal event in the pharma industry led to a massive strategic error, creating the blockbuster era, while simultaneously sowing the seeds of its demise. The result, at least in part, has been the SARS-CoV-2 enigma. The hypothesis will be covered in sufficient detail for listeners to tailor their own strategy to help catalyze the inevitable change that is required to ensure safe and effective medicines.
